IS IT POSSIBLE TO SAVE ONE SAME FROM A HEART ATTACK? THIS MAN DID IT

An Australian nurse saved his life by injecting himself with aspirin and nitroglycerin.

Is there anything we can do if we are surprised by a heart attack in a remote place? The truth is that not much, unless one is a health professional and have at hand the necessary tools for it. This is what follows from the case reported in the publication The New England Journal of Medicine. The protagonist of the same is a nurse, who was the only health professional in a small town located in the Australian desert.

When in the middle of the night he began to feel very bad, the man made himself an electrocardiogram and was able to detect the signals that indicated he was suffering a heart attack. He telephoned for help but, since he was more than a hundred kilometers from the nearest hospital, he understood that he had to face that critical moment on his own.

And what he did was administer a cocktail of drugs that included aspirin and nitroglycerin, to stimulate blood circulation and also to make the heart react. In addition, he applied himself a defibrillator. Hours later, a helicopter picked him up and went to a hospital. But the doctors recognized that he had been saved thanks to his knowledge and his own courage.

Unfortunately, most people, having their knowledge, or having the necessary mechanisms at hand, we would not have been able to react in the same way.
